Link from his website . From his Instagram : I first heard, what only many years later I finally came to know as Rebetiko music, in the Greek cafes… "Song to the Siren" was released in 1970, on the album ‘Starsailor’. Though his original author is Tim Buckley, it is well known to have been covered by numerous artists including Robert Plant on his 2002 album ‘Dreamland’, and as a duet with Plant and English tenor Alfie Boe on his 2011 album ‘Alfie’. It has also been covered by Mercury Prize nominee Susheela Raman on her album ‘Salt Rain’, and by John Frusciante on his 2009 album ‘The Empyrean’. The song has also become better known for the version by Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie (from The Cocteau Twins) under the bandname This Mortal Coil. This later version would become immensely popular, topping the UK charts and being later used in many instances on film ( on David Lynch´s Lost Highway) and advertising (on the ad for Cacharel´s parfume brand "Noa"), as well as being versioned by several other groups. In tune with the "sailor" them of the album, revolving around voyages, the song is heavily based on the mythical figure of Sirens, as seen in Homer´s "The Odyssey".Well it's storming outside and it's beating against our house But there's a fire inside that they'll never find a way to put out We're outnumbered now and they're coming for the rest of us But we wont go down so easy without a fight, a fight to the death Only say yes Keep on
Long afloat on shipless oceans I did all my best to smile 'Til your singing eyes and fingers Drew me loving to your isle And you sang Sail to me Sail to me Let me enfold you Here I am Here I am Waiting to hold you Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you hare when I was fox Now my foolish boat is leaning Broken lovelorn on your rocks, For you sing, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow: O my heart, O my heart shies from the sorrow I am puzzled as the newborn child I am troubled at the tide: Should I stand amid the breakers? Should I lie with Death my bride? Tekst piosenki: Sail adrift on shapeless oceans I did all my best to smile 'Til your singing arms and fingers Drew me loving to your isle And you sang: “Sense me, swim to me Let me enfold you Here I am, here I am Waiting to hold you” Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you hare when I was flotsam? Now my foolish boat is leaning Broken lovelorn on your rocks For you sing: "Touch me not, touch me not Come back tomorrow Oh my heart, oh my heart Shies from the sorrow" I am as puzzled as the newborn child I am as riddled as the tide Should I stand amid the breakers? Or shall I lie with Death – my bride? Hear me sing: "Sail to me, sail to me Let me enfold you Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow" Dodaj interpretację do tego tekstu » Historia edycji tekstuDream pop. Dream pop (also typeset as dreampop) [7] is a subgenre of alternative rock [8] and neo-psychedelia [9] that emphasizes atmosphere and sonic texture as much as pop melody. Common characteristics include breathy vocals, dense productions, and effects such as reverb, echo, tremolo, and chorus. Lyrics to Bryan Ferry Song To The Siren: Long afloat on distant oceans I did all my best to smile 'Til your singing eyes and fingers Drew me loving to your isle .
